Freep Hero: U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd (D-WV)
While most of the Senate Democrats sit idly by looking for their spines, Sen. Robert Byrd nearly single-handedly fights to protect the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights from the smiley-faced friendly-fascist assault by the Bushmen. Byrd also revealed on September 27 that government documents establish that the Reagan-Bush administration sent numerous shipments of biochemical agents to the government of Iraq. After U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said he had no knowledge of any U.S. shipments to Iraq, Byrd revealed that between 1985-88, the nonprofit American Type Culture Collection made eleven shipments to Iraq, with the government’s approval, of biological warfare pathogens. These include anthrax, botulinum toxin and gangrene. Also, between January 1980 and October 1983 the Federal Center for Disease Control shipped a variety of toxin specimens to Iraq including West Nile virus and Dengue Fever. The Center for Disease Control was forced to deny that the current outbreak of West Nile virus in the U.S. is linked to the shipments it made to Iraq.
The Free Press Salutes The organization “Not In Our Name” Not in Our Name published a full page ad in the New York Times on September 19, 2002 opposing the poll-driven imperialist and mentally-unbalanced foreign policy of George W. Bush. The statement began: “Let it not be said that people in the United States did nothing when their government declared a war without limit and instituted stark new measures of repression…” A demonstration is planned for October 6 in New York City to tell the world that this war and any attack on Iraq is “not in our name”!
Jesse Ventura - for leading a trade delegation to Cuba. Instead of bombing or terrorizing people in the Third World, Ventura knows its better to trade.

Bush and the Trio of Terror: Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice
The Bush administration has undertaken an unprecedented Nazi-style propaganda blitz to cover up corporate corruption and the meltdown of the U.S. economy. Bush’s shills Rumsfeld, Cheney and Rice babble incoherently about the possibility that someone linked to Iraq may have met with someone in Al Qaeda. Why doesn’t he just ask his dad’s Saudi friends, since 15 of the 19 hijackers were from this key Arab ally and five of the hijackers were trained to fly at U.S. air bases. While some Americans argue the simple-minded mutterings of the President – whether it’s done while threatening the UN with unilateral action if they don’t support his Saddam-obsession or his open talk about assassinating Saddam and regime-changing in Iraq – are charming, we at the Freep would like to point out that some people thought that Caligula and Nero were cute during the height of Roman imperialism.
