In spite of veganphobe rhetoric, vegans do not live a life of stinking deprivation with the never-ending unimaginative pasta marinara bowl and naked side salad topped with twigs. You don’t have to have someone sacrifice a terrified and abused turkey or stuff their dismembered butt with seasoned breadcrumbs (can you pass the “butt bread?” really, a gross tradition when you think about it) for a centerpiece anymore.
There are kinder and equally delicious (taste preferences do change) options such as: Tofurkey roast, Gardein’s savory stuffed turk’y, and Field Roast’s "Hazelnut Cranberry Roast En Croute" just to name a few- and you can still delve into that creamy green bean casserole, buttery mashed potatoes and gravy, yams with marshmallows, and top it all off piece of cheezecake, pumpkin roll and apple pie a’ la mode if you can’t imagine another way to celebrate holiday meals. If eating processed plant meats do not appeal to you, there is always a colorful centerpiece of stuffed acorn squash.
We have vegan versions for practically everything that is just as robust and dripping in rich, decadent flavor as anything you remember at grandma’s house. If you go to It’s All Natural Market in Gahanna, Clintonville Community Coop or Lucky’s Market in Clintonville, Raisin Rack in Westerville (or even shop at conventional markets such as Whole Foods, Meijer, Kroger, Giant Eagle products in their natural/specialty foods) most of them carry decent array of vegan options such as: plant milks, vegan creamer, vegan sour cream, vegan butter, vegan yogurts, vegan ice-cream, vegan cream cheese, vegan meats, vegan egg replacers, vegan mayo, veganic breads)
It’s All Natural: http://itsall-natural.com is a new vegan and vegetarian market in Gahanna.
